As a busy military officer, I too know what it like not being able to attend many of these network events.

Also, since you just relocated to the area, consider finding local REI clubs via Meetup website and start attending them to network with other RE investors.Good luck!

I'm currently looking for partners/mentors in Atlanta area to help me get started with this journey I'm not much of a handyman but if anyone needs a network engineer to help them set up an office or get the internet to work  I'm your guy  

If I was in your shoes, I would start going through the Biggerpockets podcast and webinar archive and finding episodes that our geared towards beginners and the tips for networking, building a core group of contacts, and learning the fundamentals of finding and analyzing deals. 

When gas got deregulated in many areas of the country (quite a few years ago) many were happy because now they had a wide variety of companies to go with as their source of gas. 

I've learned a wealth of information and it has provided some awesome networking.

I  look forward to connecting and networking with other members especially those that live in houston. 

Depending on what you are targeting you may even be able to work with a bank to have funding up to a specific limit available.Next you need to start networking with agents and other real estate investors in the area you want to invest in.

They say you NET WORTH will only be as big as your NETWORK.

I would suggest you to attend some local BP meetups and network and meet other fellow investors with all levels of experience.
