I think they add real curb appeal. 

Gradually improving the property by raising rents, improving curb appeal (trimming overgrown trees/ bushes, new landscaping, power washing).

I've had past landlords require tenants to take their trash to the curb and put cans back afterward pickup.

Also look at easements (especially on the vacant land) and factor in parking driveways, will the city let you curb cut for additional access if needed or are you stick with what you have.Also look at the number of parking spaces needed for new builds vs what you have (will a new build trigger anything there), and consider if enough electrical is available at the site for new buildings.Is there a Town Approval Board or some other such PITA process you must go through to get building/remodeling permits, and how much control do they have over your actions (plus how long do they take to approve, and is it "The Old Boy Network" to get approved (???).

It has inferior finishes and inferior photos....but its staged, and has more curb appeal, the front just pops better.

You got burned and now want to kick the whole thing to the curb, regardless of how much of a beating you take on it. 

You need  nice exterior picture, invest in mulch, paint the front door-- give it some personality and curb appeal! 

We don't want to pass on the home either.There is no curb or sidewalk. 

In that case, it's worth considering putting a some money into paint and landscaping to help with curb appeal.
