I was thinking that instead of living in the property that I invested in, I could just continue to live with my parent and rent out the unit that I would've moved into.

New electric, plumbing, full house sound system, CAT5 and cable lines throughout, original light fixtures and features, new open concept kitchen, master bath, finished carriage house, sports bar in the basement, etc. 

If you want to sell the house, you should buy one that is in the middle of the group for the neighborhood, not the biggest and not the smallest and that has similar features to what people are looking for in the area.

Most novice investors make this mistake they look for the most expensive sales to see if they can justify a higher price but they ignore features the buyers really care about Ling stay in the home.

This is why so many invest in buy-and-hold properties; we continue renting it whether the value goes  up or down and it doesn't really affect our bottom line.

Your best bet is to put yourself out there and continue to go to meetups and network.
