If you are going to need financing get a pre-approval letter to give to sellers with your offer.  

If you have to finance, get a pre-approval loan letter so the owner knows you have a backer.  

Don't get sidetracked.Get the car moved into the driveway and accessible for tow truck.Send letter to bank notifying them of the car's location and a date certain to pick up lest storage fees begin accruing. 

I guess shutting down a city block to get equipment in to drop the tree safely without damaging the other houses and power lines was the issue.
