When I said my foundation guy takes measurements, I'm talking about bringing in specialized equipment to measure wall deflection, calculating loads based on the design of the house, and then using his engineering degree to determine the right course of action to fix the foundation issue.

You can add footage in attic space but floor joists ie 1st floor ceiling joists would need engineered and city inspection approval.
