Regardless of whether or not the boat goes out on cruises, it will need lots of maintenance ($$$) to keep it looking good and from degrading mechanically.

Drive by any commercial malls and tell me the owners of these are in deep Ship!!

from my point of view crash and acceleration of economy are more like a big train or container ship or cruise ship.when you start to bring it to a halt it takes time and miles and miles to do so inertia is too great.we saw this with the GFC the worst crash basically in history .. 

The ship has sailed for my family and I to house hack, but kudos to you for going that route.

Sounds like the new management came in, people started jumping ship and going onto other companies and careers.  

I worked as an engineer in O&G for about 8 years before jumping ship into the marketing industry, because it turns out I really like people and sales.

Fact is a shifting market is the magic hour for innovators, it's when we bloom and success is like a rocket ship.
