Call them and interview them, in fact, pick three and interview all of them on the phone, I'm sure you begin a day later with a decent agent on your side that doesn't cost you anything in dealing with REOs.

Actually it all hinged on appraisal, once they realized I was getting built in equity day 1 they pushed all the paperwork through quickly.I also recall having a little mini interview with the commercial loan officer.

As a follow up to anyone looking at a similar situation:We did purchase this building, and decided to do a full overhaul right away for various reasons, which in hindsight was the wise decision, although we were a tad bit over our heads.In regards to replacement of the roof and fire-damaged roof structure, we interviewed and compared quotes from two large fire re-hab companies.

If you have a relationship with this attorney, he may have some questions and suggestions to cover before drafting a contract, you should be able to get 5 minutes worth, maybe more, without him tagging you as he will be doing more workIf this is a new attorney, then interview them as to doing the work for you, they should tell you what they will do and do so for nothing as you are making an inquiry about retaining them.I'd tell them everything in a concise manner, you might jot down your thoughts to stay on track with the subject.
