Realistically, you probably should reimburse her for the value of the internet you owned. 

I'm not familiar with California but I know living in Florida, the closer you are to the ocean the more expensive it is to live.

However if you are looking at commercial properties a lot of them will be owned by corps and then it will still be hard to find the actual owners!
