Also, I'm pretty sure that you should get some house hunting days when you get to your duty station (I believe 7 or 10), which is pretty much free leave that allows you to look for a place.

Duplexes around universities in College Station/Bryan, Austin, Lubbock, San Marcos, etc. are good for older college students who want to live off-campus and pay less than they would for a brand new apartment, and provides you with a steady stream of cash flows.
