I dealt with this in a condo I bought from a smoker.1) Open windows2) Definitely rip up any carpet that may be there3) Put on a mask-  Clean and scrub walls/windows/floors/trim every surface in the house with bleach/water mixture.

Unfortunately I just rented the downstairs unit to a smoker because he swore he never smokes inside because of his young children. 

Tenants are smokers ( I would eventually have a non smoking policy) They are 2 months into a 1 year leaseUnit 4 - Owner's boyfriends kids living here.

They are all non-smokers, pet free, screened through a criminal/credit background check and are inclusively taken care of by our company (such as low-level maintenance, landscaping, housekeeping etc.).

Tenants had 625+ credit scores, no pets, non smokers, no evictions, and NET income 3x the rent - just to give you an idea of the caliber tenant you can get in the area. 

They see a rent amount per month and then they call (gets awkward for them when I ask them if they smoke because in the HEADLINE of the ad it says no smokers.....and they go..."

The issue is, I have a bit of rehab to do to get it ready, as she was a heavy smoker.

House also required much more paint than I had planned to cover vestiges of prior smoker.

When placing the ad on GoSection8 I clearly state no smokers of any kind  (Not even Mary JAne), no pets, no felonies no illegal drug use and no evictions from within the last 5 years.

Greetings everyone My mother lives in an apartment complex that allows smoking in your home in Michigan , the smokers seem not to care if the smell gets into the heating system and gets into my mothers place .
