Craigslist seems like it's bombarded with agents that use programs to load it with all their listings, so put something original in your heading, and try to use a different style than the agents that do that use.

With regards to cooperating with the competition, I thought that was a great idea too, but reading some of the forums it seems that equates to frustration from buyers who get bombarded with the same property with varying prices.

As far as the bandit signs go you'll definitely have to be patient, as one of the other commentators said, the market is being bombarded by those signs and other methods of marketing will definitely help such as door knocking.
