What I mean by that is for instance in a place like Newport Beach California where houses cost millions to buy there may be apartments available for 2000 a month, which is way less than the per square foot of a purchase.

We bought our first beach condo on Seabrook Island, SC in 2020, simply to have a get-away in the midst of COVID.

I agree but it is (although waterfront) about a 10+ min walk to the beach and all of the competition has it included unfortunately.

I think the resorts clean their own beaches so hopefully the local government cleans the rest (the Riviera Maya has the same issue and they haven't always done it properly).

He has also invested like this with us on a couple of high-producing STR beach houses (that net each of us around 70K per house each year).

The beaches are great and there is a strong ex-pat presence.
