When doing a virtual drive by, some things you may want to be on the lookout for are chain link / metal fences around every home, trash / broken furniture out in the streets, stray dogs running around, uncut overgrown grass, broken down cars in people's drive-ways and lawns, bars on the windows of the homes, etc.

Just wanted to add that if you are long term tenants asking for new carpet, before you ask, do you have the ability to move your furniture at installation to avoid extra fees, or can you pay the extra removal and installation fees that will be involved (usually costly if they are doing it)?
