So yes, I will need to have a ton of units under my belt to make this worth while.

It's a worthwhile expense for me because I never know for sure where I will be and it's important to me that my tenants have someone they can call any time they need something (for example, I'm currently deployed to the Middle East. 

It's worthwhile to speak with several managers, to understand the different value proposition that each provides.

The networking and deal announcement stuff in the beginning still makes them very worthwhile events to attend, but once the networking is over, you can always leave.
