I'm not bashing equities or real estate, I'm saying that both asset classes have an important part to play in a well diversified investment portfolio.Also, a recession only destroys a 401K if you panic sell, those who did nothing but continue to dollar cost average throughout the last recession are sitting on pretty gains right now (by the way, real estate investors functioned the same way, those who bought during the last recession did great, those who panicked lost their shirts).
