Dawn Anistasi had, what I think, is the best answer, especially due to the fact that they may trash the unit and it may cost thousands to fix it. 

They had nice high ceilings, but tiny closets for the most part, no dishwashers, no balconies, not enough parking, etc.  

I received a copy of the leasing agreements to confirm what I was told was documented, and this is what I found: According to the lease the owner has acknowledged the following appliances: refrigerator, stove, microwave, and dishwasher for Unit A.

I've never appreciated something like a dishwasher working as much as I do now.

On the repair side, I don't offer fridges with water dispensers and I have vinyl under pretty much every sink amd dishwasher that runs up the back wall a bit to prevent not detecting slow leaks that turn into huge repair bills.My people know all non-emergency repairs are taken care of on Tuesdays or Thursdays (depending on which complex) if we can't address it by text.

With regards to fixing it up, we replaced the old fridge and dishwasher with brand new stainless steel ones, and removed the old carpets from the bedrooms which have nice hardwood floors underneath.

Very few would decide to leave anyway and they'd be the ones who decided that they're ready to pay more to get an apartment with a dishwasher or where pets are allowed :-)

We never use the dishwasher.
