Typically, what the lenders ask for, at minimum, is:  The last two years of your income tax statements (W2); A copy of your bank statements for the past 3 months (see how much money you have and if there's unusual deposits); copies of a months worth of employment checks.

At closing, make sure the seller gives you any deposits as well as the prorated monthly rent payment for however much you’re already into the current month.
