Remove the drywall don't take out the outside of the house I think it would be easier to remove from the inside we use to get birds all the time in our fireplace and installed the little gate so when they fall we could catch them that way.

Adjustment values may be a bit of math, like 5K for a fireplace, but there is also a judgment call, some fireplaces could easily be 10K, so you need to know the difference as seen in the market.Good luck. :)
