On a side note I recently setup a umbrella policy to minimize my risk in the case of an accident or other potential issues. 

You should have plenty of protection via your insurance and your umbrella policy.

With regard to the LLC protection: LLC property ownership is very common but I believe that there is more of a perceived perception than an actual one - as was seen in some of the previous comments.I recommend buyers to simply make sure that their property insurance policy has a nice thick umbrella policy to protect yourself from a lawsuit.

I already have a 2MM Umbrella for liability's sake.  

Lastly, can anyone share more information about 'Umbrella Policies' as opposed to putting investment property in an LLC?

If you are looking for asset protection get a few quotes for umbrella insurance.

Just buy a cheap umbrella policy. 

I'm also going to get an umbrella policy, but they are pretty tough to find affordable ones in Florida, especially when you have 10+ rentals.
