@Timothee Brzozowski ah if that’s the case and addressing the vent filter/ hood etc. doesn’t solve it for you then you may also have a bunch of grease clogged up in the disposer/drain that’s stinky and wafting back up into the unit.

It does not take much to give off odor.I had a unit that had a wet dog smell, I did a complete remodel and still had the odor I found a big hair ball under the fridge.Paint the subfloor with KilzCaulk trim (hair can get between wall and baseboard)Vacuum registers and cold air return ducts and change filterOpen windows for a few days can helpPaint or wash all surfacesIf unit has been vacant drain traps may be empty allowing sewer gas backup

repurposed old buildings can be a real long term cap ex drain.. so caution.. unless your buying in San Francisco or some other VERY expensive market that those are the norm.. most of these types of buildings sell for far less than replacement costs and there is a reason for that.
