This is obviously illegal because selling real estate for some on else and receiving a commission is not legal unless are are appropriately licensed broker or agent with a real estate company.

I hear some people are successful posting in local real estate facebook groups, using facebook ads, calling mortgage brokers to see if they have any clients they couldn't qualify, even flyers or direct mail sent to nearby apartments.Typically you will get a LOT of calls/emails, most of them won't qualify, but some will, in fact probably more than you have houses!
