Omar’s rent forgiveness bill
27 April 2020 | 8 replies
Of course your primary mortgage would be forgiven ( if you owe money) and you might get partial relief from your rental property mortgage through a government fund ( I’m sure minimal paperwork). The bill would require full payment forgiveness, with no accumulation of debt for renters or homeowners and no negative impact on their credit rating or rental history. This bill should obviously be a nightmare for anyone owning rental property which is pretty much all BiggerPockets users. https://omar.house.gov/media/press-releases/rep-ilhan-omar-introduces-bill-cancel-all-rent-and-mortgage-payments-during

Recently, Colorado Governor Polis signed Executive Order D 2020 051, which includes the following action:I direct all landlords of rental properties to notify tenants in writing of federal protections against eviction and foreclosures at each property, including those provided by Sec. 4024 of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act), Public Law No. 116-136.Just curious if anyone knows if DORA or a similar agency is working on a form in which we are supposed to provide formally to our tenants, or if a simple email will suffice?
