Just google the following: - special assessment - zombie condos - Florida condos (look for recent news)Since you are not living near the properties anyways, why not look in a landlord friendly state where the purchase prices are lower?

Some good disinflationary news: shelter growth is on the way down, which we do need frankly, and I say this as a landlord.

I sent my first builder deposit for a home in Lehigh acres Florida in Sept of 2022 and the land is still vacant.  

We have a 14-page management contract that we've added our real experiences to over the years, with the intent of protecting both us AND the landlord.

And there are many possible ways that can be resolved and most don't involve hiking up property taxes so high that most people can no longer afford to be a landlord. 

Open to ocean view, close to tourist areas by transit, farm ground or ranch land.  

I’ve seen people buy land thinking water was covered only to find out they had to pay 6 figures to get water re-routes or upgrade pump stations.

A landlord friendly state won't save you from a bad deal.Not trying to be discouraging, just realistic.
