If they have evictions, drug charges or violent charges then it’s an automatic pass for me and they don’t even get a showing.

Moving here, inheriting debt, and eventually buying this house has never been beneficial to us in any way.I don’t want this to escalate to anything physical or violent.

But I think you have a classic series of failed promises by them (to pay rent on time) and may want to think about a Crucial Confrontation (not violent of course--just verbal) by the book of the same title-- or start the wheels turning on getting these professional tenants on the way out.  

And second, the point I was trying to make was that as a typical person visiting Chicago, you're not going to find yourself walking around in these violent neighborhoods, so the city's image of "if you go to Chicago you will get shot" is a lot of hyperbole. 

If it's a C, needs a little work, and not in a great area, and you have the fortitude and connections to do so, you find an older biker (one not so much active) or a rather large individual - whoever it is, background check them to make sure they don't have violent felonies.

@Katie Shults, our criminal criteria for rentals is no felonies or misdemeanors of a drug or violent nature.
