Fixed income...would container village actually be a cheaper proposition vs lets say a senior living 3-4 story apartment building for the same number of units?

If the smell comes from her apartment only, that's evidence enough.

To me, renting an apartment or a "normal house" would cost more and I'm ATLEAST getting rent towards ownership/equity.

Going into the unknown and buying multiple SFHs/duplexes or an apartment complex OOS and my property taxes will skyrocket (property tax is reasonable thanks to Proposition 13 in CA).

Hey Derek, I deal with the same situation at one of my glamping sites near Houston.

They are about 400 miles apart.

You will be able to find a co-op apartment that allows rentals but whether you'd be able to close on it is another question.Co-ops with poor financials will have trouble selling units to borrowers using a mortgage.

Dependable routine maintenance is a part of this property with a full time team on site at the villa. 

She can only help so much because 1) we live far apart 2) she has her own business that she focuses on.
