I found the bigger pockets platform, listened to a couple of podcast episodes, attended a webinar and purchased a PRO membership as I felt it would enable me to access more information.

I know that this platform has experimental bias, but I've gotten solid advice pointing to maxing out tax advantage contributions (e.g. 401k which allows 19k in annual contributions) and then simply index fund investing. 

Its a legit program and very useful for first time buyers.
