I would categorize the current occupant as a squatter, rather than a tenant, because he was never authorized to move in (he did so after the owner died, and without anyone's permission, or so I'm told), and the daughter wants him out.

That is usually enough incentive for the roommates to find a workable solution themselves.If you had a clause in your rental agreement about unauthorized occupants and the boyfriend moved in without your permission, then you could have effectively addressed it then as a lease violation.
