You need to be very careful when stocks are volatile and have recently taken a big hit.

When looking at major metros, multifamily pricing was not moved much, and default rates were very low.In addition to that, volatility in the equities markets drive investors to hard/tangible assets: precious metals, diamonds and real estate. 

@Adam Oliver Probably not a bad choice as long as you don't need the money for a long time (several years) and don't mind a lot of volatility.

I’m just very nervous to pull the trigger on something like that given the volatility of the market right now.

There's a little less price volatility simply because the overall #s are lower, but there's also not nearly as much appreciation.Landlord-tenant laws are a little better in RI than Mass, as are lead paint related laws, but I'm not personally sure it's enough to make up for the lack of economic engines in the state.

So I love the ability to invest small amounts in more volatile assets.

I hear the market is volatile and its future is uncertain.
