So now that it is empty, I have been doing as much work as I can myself, such as painting all the walls, replacing damaged bricks, drywall repairs, AC duct repairs, plumbing repairs, and simple electrical stuff to save money, but do not feel like I have the woodworking skills needed to install cabinets or siding and have it come out looking professional and clean.

As you know labor is the biggest expense and sometimes the owner can float out a lot of the expense on time for the products.A good example of this is a 4 plex that needs complete rehab minus major electrical or plumbing and the bid from the contractor may be $44,000 in labor ( $11,000 per unit )   The contractor may suggest I will take half of the first two years of rent or the equal of same.

Many of the cleaners or contractors locally will have a network of people for handymen, HVAC, Plumbing, etc. so reaching out and setting an agreement in place has been helpful - if you agree to be on call for us, we agree to pay you $$ for the service call + any additional time and materials on top of it.

In my mind, plumbing adds an order of magnitude in difficulty when comparing it to adding just a bedroom.
