My view is that if they are forbidden in your locale and you put them up anyway, you are asking for trouble.I don't think I've ever heard of anyone ending up in front of a judge for putting out road-side signs.

Don't know where your Mom and Dad roadside Inns get their stuff (or your Ramadas, for that matter), but I'd search my network for someone in that industry (or go stop by a local motel) and see about picking their brain.
