The floor guy indicated older maple has typically yellow hues while the new growth is whiter.  

Exterior paint goes a long way if you have the budget- "moody hues" are definitely in style these days and will be more attractive than a standard stained wood cabin.Remember, the wives/girlfriends are the ones doing the booking.

I am a new investor, I have looking to buy my 3rd property as a rental(move-in reddish) in Chicago or the suburbs.

The blue wall doesn't go with the colors of brick and the striped and reddish leather furniture, and the small rug with the pink stripe.

I rather have low rents and good tenants than high rents with not so good tenants- but getting good tenants in a reddish color area crime wise may be a challenge.

Blue comes in many different shades and hues.
