I feel like if you have too many cards, it becomes a little more difficult to rack up any worth-while cash back (even if you pay off everything monthly) because you're trying to spread your benefits over several cards rather than picking your favorite 1 or 2 and just sticking with it.

Businesses sell assets all the time to shore up other parts of the company - HOWEVER, it is usually a bad idea to sell the most worthwhile asset to shore up the weak ends.

Let your cousin buy the place on his own if he likes the area and plans to stay there long enough to make it worthwhile.
