They can take their time, measure it to see where the furniture will go, etc.

The seller also let me into the property a month early to paint/move furniture before we closed on 7/28.

The worst thing that can happen is you have to sell some furniture if it doesn't work out. 

But the yard and house are kept up and there is still a few pieces of furniture in it. 

A mattress on the floor, boxes of clothes and personal belongings in the corner but no other furniture.

@Samuel RuelkeIf you do that you would want to make it your primary residence to avoid Mortgage Fraud (move mailing addresses there, put your furniture there, actually stay there as you said you would etc).

I was able to move out of my apartment and store the furniture I kept at my parents houses.
