The relaxed SEC rules and the CF part of the JOBS act has much more impact on small players, IMO.

I would first start by talking to locals, and finding a few players in your area.

But on the flip side I have met many VERY VERY capable investors on BP so its not all beginners.. but the bigger players you can tell right off the bat.. and that meeting or talk is much different than the hey I need a mentor.. those talks are hey I am a very successful business man/ women with capacity looking to invest..
