I updated my personal kitchen and I use these counters/cabinet combos in my rentals however I switch up the backsplashes between rentals, but they kitchen makeover cost me only $600, the counters were $80 at Menards.

However, because I'm not an expert at cleaning up dead bodies, I'd ask your local crime scene clean up company what their opinion was.  

Pick any breed under 25 pounds and they could possibly bite you, but not rip off a body part.
