They do not view their cash as imposing a negative drain on the property itself.I view cash investors as creative accountants....smoke and mirror profits.

That is because when our properties were built between 1980 - 1920 the kitchen and bathroom were built back to back and they share a drain stack.

Baring there being some type of irregular shaped lot or land improvemnets in the way (i.e. house, electric, drains, buildings, driveway, etc...) it should be able to be done.

Certainly with an older building that has been mom and pop managed for 30 years, there are plenty of opportunities for improvements that don't necessarily equate to added value (hot water heaters, French drains, new electrical service, etc).

Residential taxes are a drain on local municipalities so they never decrease the assessment unless you contest the taxes, which is done often in Alabama.

If not you should be able to see where the main drain line exits the house so you can at least get a sense of which direction the tank should be.
