What problems have you encountered with Podio??  

Essentially those transfers were like my business paying myself.Has anyone encountered this or have any advice that may be able to help me get the loan?

I've not encountered that kind of pricing with the neighborhoods for any of my rentals, but "New York City" for example does it almost exclusively. 

It’s something new and any landlord may encounter this kind of bs situation.

As far as a $1,000 budget, I would probably do a few things:1) design and buy a back window sticker for your car (or tailgate of your truck) so when you’re driving around folks will see what you do (very cheap and effective advertising).

Would it encounter issues operating in Canada?

There is no question that you will encounter racial bias, gender bias, age bias, etc.

Wholesalers, yellow letters, bandit signs, guerrilla marketing, website with seo/blogs, vehicle signage, shirts, bumper stickers, business cards, door knocking, networking, realtors, TV, radio, and other things I'm forgetting.I agree with Mathew that contracting also scales and supplements your business.

@Ian Noble, I own a duplex and have encountered the same issues you are experiencing.
