I guess wishful thinking was stated above :)We are qualified for a house in our desired neighborhood so that's not the bottleneck for us.My concerns with renting our home are:-Losing out on the equity if there's another collapse especially since it's not in the nicer neighborhood which is more likely retain its value.

I told renters that upfront, and I usually did it on retainer with the agreement that the tenant would make up the difference to make the showing fee $300.

The date on the check can be falsified in advance by the person writing the check, so proof of that would be better made maybe by retaining the envelope bearing the postmark.
