Once you are in that position, AND have a bunch of liquid capital, you are in a strong position from which to handle life expenses as they come up, and can begin rapidly accumulating investments with far lower risk than the guy with no liquidity.Personally, I keep a few thousand in the bank account, and put every after-tax dollar I accumulate beyond that into stock index funds.
