They have value solely through consent - the same as any other currency (including Dollars, Rubles, Yen and Bitcoin).     

When I am incentivized to keep my money moving (after all, it is called currency for a reason) it benefits many people; who in turn benefit other people by spending the money that paid them. 

You may need to do the conversion from your currency to dollar $ to make sure everything works and no glitches within the algorithm throw things off.  

What concerns me the most is the long term impact of The Fed's actions on our currency and economic system as a whole.

I always think of SF RE as “premium currency” meaning once you start owning RE in this area you can afford RE pretty much everywhere you want on this planet with few exceptions.

If you are not knowledgeable about crypto currency it probably doesn't make sense

It's almost as if the fact that we can't get 'kick backs' in the form of cash back and forth, everyone uses value as the currency.

What you have to do is find people in those countries directly (a lot of people hire people from the Philippines because their English is good, currency exchange rate is favorable to people in the States, and their accent is not as thick as people from other countries).

At least here directly in the city of Chicago there are a lot of check cashing and currency exchange stores that will make money orders for free.
