I have been recently talking about buying some land near our subdivision home to put a metal barn on to house my toys, and she had a great idea - buy the land, maybe 5 acres, put a mobile home or two on it, rent them out, and basically let it pay the note on the land, and maybe even some of the barn.What is the viability of this?

Seems like a metal detector might help find the lines/tanks.

If it has galvanized metal pipes, those eventually decay and start to flake, which causes blockage.

(Make sure you don’t use the the metallic hoses that look like snake scales/knight armor joints.

Zoning, outdoor storage is fairly rare, depending where you are, condition of the improvements, are you looking for just a metal building or some office too?

The studs in the basement should be metal as well or at minimum pressure treated. do not put carpet in a basement! 

@Kristyn Grimes metal and salt don’t mix… some HVACs have a tendency to go a little quicker but not always the case, some get lucky

We have a locked metal gate with heavily wooded roadside.

Copper, metals, and OSB all continue to increase in cost, so just because lumber goes down doesn't mean everything else does.
