And you only get to take an amount of gain tax free that is proportional to the time of "qualified use" (as your primary residence.Again, not exactly germane to this thread but the strategy of 1031, later conversion to primary residence, and then sale and proration so that some gain is tax free is a powerful periodic end game strategy for the 1031 investor.
