New Member From Minnesota
Hello Bigger Pockets Community!
My name is Kyle and I'm a new member from Minnesota. I'm 30 years old, single, and have a full time job as an engineer. Recently, I have become very interested in working to improve my financial state in order to have more control over my life and to gain more freedom to do the things I want and experience all that I can during my life here on earth. I only wish that I would have had this focus earlier! I'm very driven and like growing and improving and feel like I am very limited and restricted in that just working my 9-5.
I'm currently doing everything I can to pay my student loan debt off by the end of this year and then focusing on using January through June of next year to build up some cash for emergencies (following the Dave Ramsey plan for paying down debt and saving, although don't completely agree with him on investing.) In the mean time I am trying to learn everything that I possibly can about building wealth through real estate, as it really interests me and the level of control, returns, and my understanding/familiarity with it is better than the stock market. I have a 401k through work but don't know that I will reach my goals with that alone, and it also does not provide cashflow. I have made a goal to study using free material by reading forums, books, blogs, listening to podcasts, analyzing deals, etc. for at least 20 hours a week while working my 9-5.
I'm very interested in creating positive, (somewhat) passive cashflow through multifamily rental properties (apartments), utilizing good property managers with appreciation as a bonus. The main problem for me will be building enough capital to get involved in this type of investing so my current plan is to start flipping houses next summer and use the money obtained from the flips to finance my first income property purchase. I then plan to continue this process, growing my real estate investing business exponentially, leaving my 9-5 eventually, and transitioning out of flipping properties and into just focusing on cashflow generating properties. One of my favorite Bigger Pockets podcast episodes is the one with Grant Cardone. He said something along the lines of "success is the difference between your potential, and your reality." I really liked that. I know I have much more potential than I am currently using and I want to get as close to it as possible.
For fun I like to hunt and fish (would like to do more), train marial arts (BJJ, judo), and I'm very into cars and drag racing. I also like just hanging out at home with my German Shepherd and would love to travel more and experience the world.
I look forward to interacting with everyone and hope to learn and offer everything that I possibly can!
