Background:  I'm an engineer by education and worked in the off-highway equipment industry for but have been a SAHD and started a handyman business since my 3 kids were born. 

I have been encouraged by all the thoughtful and supportive people here on Bigger Pockets and I finally feel ready to start my Real Estate Journey.I am currently nestled away in Silicon Valley as a Software Engineer but would like to explore the Denver Market because my Partner lives there.

Jake is also a Civil Engineer, we’re not sure how that will tie in yet but surely can help in the future.Here’s my questions and I’m open to all ideas and opinions, even if that means you think we’re making a mistake and shouldn’t invest in this endeavor at all:For a first time property buyer is it better to purchase land itself of a property you can “flip.”Are first time buyers incentives something we need to look into more and take advantage of?

I would have an engineer confirm that it is structurally sound.

I spent the first 15 years of my career contracting before recently going into the engineering side of things and have dealt with water issues on foundations on certain projects before.

That is the info a surveyor, land use civil engineer or land use attorney would use to make a determination of right.

I am 23 and I graduated from college with a degree in civil engineering.

Work full time as a process engineer and have been in construction since I was 16.

Prior to purchasing the home I had a structural engineer inspect the joists and deemed them safe and satisfactory based on the PSI and solid material remaining, but didn't notice the floor dip until after the tenants vacated the unit. 

I recently graduated college with a Mechanical Engineering degree and was fortunate enough to find a job.
