The purpose of the LLC is for liability in case or lawsuit, with 1-5 property depending the amount of equity you have, I would simply buy an umbrella policy.

general insurance and you can get say an 1 million umbrella for very cheap.. although frankly landlording has limited risk as long as your not slumlording.

Insuring for higher amounts doesn't always raise the premium a ton (for example a $2MM umbrella policy is not double a $1MM policy).
