And I hate to get political on this wonderful forum, but the idea was fabricated by paranoids and liberals who hate progress and want to end all technology forever so that we can resume our "natural state" of walking around on our knuckles naked like our ape-ish predecesors (or adam and eve).

I have a core group of close friends that are GCs, fabricators, etc. so I have a great knowledge pool to fall back on.    

And, single family homes and most multi units are not zoned for hotels (which technically AirBnB is) so renting a room or apartment for vacation rental is illegal.Further to the housing problem for people who actually live here, a community full of vacation rentals changes the fabric of the neighborhood, breaks down the continuity of community - who is your neighbor??? 

I love seeing innovation and change, and I think there's a lot of potential in smart, sustainable housing and next-generation fabrication methods.

The trap not looking for the unseen effects would lead us to the same thinking that automated textile factories would put out of a job everyone who used to weave fabric by hand.

Structural Insulated Panel System (SIP) framed houses can sometimes have large cost savings or Machine Framed walls and rooves can be constructed in-factory and then assembled on-site (and they aren't considered "pre-fabricated").What I would do is:1) Break out the phases of the construction   Architectural Plans/Construction Documents/Building Permit  Grading and Drainage  Foundation  Framing  Windows and Doors  Mechanical (HVAC)  Electrical   Plumbing  Drywall/Finishes  Fixtures  Paint2) Identify what you can do yourself (best way to save money), remove it from the scope of work3) Research or solicit bids from several contractors asking each for a price for all of the above (they may need a set of plans, so that'd be the best place to start)4) Research unique or creative methods of getting each phase of the project done    i.e. - Maybe you can get pre-made architectural plans that are easy to modify?         

They are some sort of yarn or fabric strings that I've never seen before.

You should probably furnish the house with furniture that can hold up well to rough handling (no dainty fabric furniture).
