Sometimes it got boring or tedious, but most of the time I chose that over TV or going out or any other "filler" of my free time.If you make REI a priority in life, working an 8 hour day doing something else shouldn't even slow you down.

So you can visit the basement, watch tv in the basement, knit afghans in the basement - but based upon the egress requirements you defined, it cannot legally be used as a sleeping area.So, if you do as you propose, and the housing police show up, you can try to sell them a story that you are not actually using the basement as a bedroom, and you really sleep on the couch upstairs, and you only visit the basement to assemble puzzles and play solitaire.

A few other factors are that this is currently a pretty sub-suburban, small town but a TV news report on the local Houston news last night just said it is expected to add about 130,000 people in the next few years!
