I think the optics on a house hack are different in general - but if you can get it to a positive cash flow, sure, that's a huge win;  but negative say around $100/month while the tenant(s) are paying down substantially more on your mortgage is still a victory with a house hack.

As a side note, I fully intended to use a property manager from the get go, and I discovered they usually charge around 10% assuming that is fair enough to not fight over, even if I only make $100 a month (profit) then I would consider it a victory, albet a small one.

So I would rapidly try to pay it down to get that LTV to a point where you can refinance it, then move out and rent it out.2) If you will be there long term, then save rapidly for the next one and let your money and savings snowball.Remember to celebrate the little victories and the harder you work now, the better it will pay off later.
