Also if a business is using Apfolio or some equivalent then they are using the best technology and the field is level - this is not the 1990s where you needed to pay a lot for a custom IT solution.

Building costs have also disproportionately skyrocked for these same reasons and others which is counter-intuitive as usually increased productivity and advancing technology lowers cost over time-  apparently not in construction.  

Im wondering if they are still relevant in the technology age.  

Pretty expensive still, but that technology is on its way. 

I have an extensive technology background in addition to real estate.

When I looked into something similar in 2016, the ones I could install myself, the technology just wasn't there yet.

I've got a lot of experience with PM in corporate life, from location, build/construction oversight all the way down to electrical and technology deployment, etc., etc.
