I just had the asbesto's survey going to cost me 22k to remove that.. plus a few dumpster.. then i have the fire department coming in to burn the house and barn building down for free :)  So ya a little paint who cares.

When you purchased the property, your title company likely pulled an old survey or commissioned a new one. 

You will have a long approval process and pay for appraisals, origination fees, surveys, etc.

I don't think I'd consider any of that to be perfectly fine, you can check your survey that you may have gotten with your purchase to see if it is on your property, if it is I'd see if the neighbor is willing to split the cost with you. 

The seller and his attorney recently paid for a survey to be done and also paid someone to spend a lot of time at the city to persuade them.
